أعلنت مؤسسة ” روس كوسمرس” الروسية أن إحدى الشركات التابعة لها تعمل على تطوير الأقمار الصناعية، ووقعت عقوداً بقيمة 5.37 مليار روبل لتطوير قمرين جديدين من فئة Meteor-M لمراقبة الطقس الأرض.
وبحسب بيانٍ صدر عن المؤسسة ان القمرين سيعملان لخمس سنوات حسب توقعات المؤسسة، وسيتم تسليم أول قمر 5-2№ في أكتوبر 2024 إلى قاعدة فوستوتشني الفضائية، وثاني قمر 6-2 № سيتم تسليمه لنفس القاعدة بتاريخ نوفمبر 2025، وقبله من المفترض أن تطلق قمرين من نفس الفئة هما 3-2 № و 4-2№ .
هذا وقد أطلقت روسيا أول قمر صناعي في سبتمبر 2009 من نفس الفئة، والقمر الثاني عام 2014، وفي 2017 أطلق القمر Meteor-M رقم (2-1)، وفي 2019 أطلقت قمر Meteor-M رقم (2-2).
وتعتبر أقمار Meteor-M من أكثر الأقمار الصناعية الروسية تطوراً، حيث تساعد على التنبؤ بحالة الطقس ومراقبة طبقة الإوزون وإرسال البيانات إلى الأرض.
